Located in the heart of Alpe d'Huez, the 5* Daria-I-Nor Hotel ticks all the boxes when it comes to a luxury ski hotel.

All of the hotel's equipment and facilities have been designed to ensure high-quality service and to transform your stay into a unique experience: attentive and professional staff, beautifully comfortable rooms and suites, a prestigious spa, stylish décor, two restaurants, a lounge bar and a south-facing terrace to enjoy a drink with a fantastic view of the resort.

Its central location, with direct connections to the ski area, ensure this accommodation's easy to access the slopes and to explore the resort with friends or family.

Named after the 182-carat, pink-tinged diamond the 'sea of light', the 5* Daria-I Nor is sister hotel to the award-winning Koh-I Nor in Val Thorens and the really rather splendid Taj-I Mah in Les Arcs, the Daria-I Nor achieves the same high-level blend of contemporary furnishings and traditional features.

Each bedroom at the accommodation has its own private balcony with views over the sunny resort or ski slopes. The rooms are particularly spacious, for French standards at least, with a minimum of 24sqm. The restaurants are superb and complimented by a 1,000 bottle-strong wine selection. L'Améthyste gourmet restaurant is in an intimate setting whilst the La Table du Daria opens up onto a south facing terrace with panoramic mountain views and serves up re-imagined local specialities (the half-board restaurant).

If that doesn't sound tempting enough there's an extensive spa with 2 pools, 2 saunas, hammam hot tub, solarium and salt wall to explore. And being a luxury hotel, there's no greater luxury in the ski world than having a gondola on your doorstep and the Daria-I Nor does not disappoint on this front.

What we like

  • The Alpe Express Gondola is next to the hotel, which takes you quickly up to the Bergers ski area
  • Extensive spa area with mountain views
  • Incredible food in both restaurants
  • All rooms have a spacious private balcony

Worth knowing

  • L'Améthyste restaurant is a supplement for half board guests
  • The hotel is just below the main village - catching the gondola down from Begers is the easiest way to get back to the hotel each day (no buses and no walking)
  • There is a special child's menu available
  • Resort tax is payable locally and is approx. €3.30 per person per day
